INCLUSIVE AND ADAPTIVE TRAINING

INCLUSIVE AND ADAPTIVE BOXING

‘Effective inclusion is central to the development of a more inclusive society' (UNICEF 2017)

At iSPARR, the creation of an inclusive culture is one of our core values.

Our mission is to:

■ enable all users, regardless of their age or ability, to access the unique,‘iSPARR Fitness and Well- being System’ and challenge themselves to ‘Go the Distance’ without risk or fear of injury.

■ provide our users with an opportunity to experience a real sense of achievement, thoroughly enjoy their exercise and genuinely improve their sense of physical and mental well-being.

The iSPARR system is entirely inclusive and is accessible to all users without adaptation. All of our bags are easily interchangeable and therefore ready to meet the requirements of each user.

‘iSPARR’ INCLUSIVE BOXING PROGRAMMES

TOGETHER,  WE CAN ‘PUNCH -BACK PARKINSON’S’

Boxing coach Dennis Stinchcombe, MBE said:

When we first started the programme, one lady could hardly move at all. I’ve now seen that same person three months on, running around the gym and punching bags.”

The iSPARR INCLUSIVE BOXING PROGRAMME (IIB) is the only inclusive boxing -related therapy to be fully endorsed by PARKINSON’S UK and ENGLAND BOXING.

Boxing therapies are increasingly being used in the treatment of patients with neurological and Stroke -related symptoms.

Many participants report significant improvement to their physical and mental well –being.

  • Increase accessibility, inclusion and diversity in the world of boxing
  • Enable users of all abilities to experience boxing-related exercise without the risk of injury

INTRODUCING THE

‘ISPARR ADAPTIVE BAG’

This innovative design concept was the result of the intervention of Paul Bradbury, a Wheelchair Fitness Instructor  and innovator to the Boxing and Fitness world, following a chance encounter with the ISPARR TEAM at a Fitness Equipment exhibition.

Paul immediately recognised the potential of the ISPARR but was able to identify some of the difficulties a wheelchair participant may encounter when trying to engage fully with the unit.

In cooperation with the ISPARR TEAM and their engineers, they together, devised an entirely unique system to enable wheelchair participants to obtain the maximum benefit from the system without experiencing any lack of intensity.

The result is simple but incredibly effective and we are so proud to introduce this amazing design to the field of Adaptive Sports development.

The Adaptive Bag pictured above, enables wheelchair participants to access all the same benefits
from the system as any able -bodied user.

‘ ISPARR enables everyone to experience a genuine Boxing experience outside the ring’.!

Paul Bradbury

FURTHER RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

We are currently working with researchers, engineers, and manufacturers to further improve our range of iSPARR equipment to focus upon the specific needs of our clients. In partnership with University of Keele, we are working to bring about the next steps in the evolution of the ISPARR system. This exciting and innovative work is currently exploring and testing methods to engage deaf, blind, and wheelchair users to more fully engage with the unique iSPARR system.
